Fujian tourism shows signs of rebound
From:ChinaDaily   |  2020-05-06 16:56

The Labor Day holiday that ended on Tuesday saw 11.53 million trips in Fujian province, generating revenues of 8.31 billion yuan ($1.17 billion), according to the provincial culture and tourism office.

Although the tourist count in the province this year was far below the same period of last year — 66.3 percent — the tourism industry nevertheless showed signs of a rebound in Fujian after some restrictions were relaxed in the travel sector with the novel coronavirus largely under control, according to local culture and tourism officials.

On Gulangyu Island in Xiamen, a new ferry route was opened during the five-day holiday to better separate tourists in groups for sightseeing. Multiple boards and digital screens throughout the scenic spot displayed the number of visitors on the island in real time to alert travelers to crowds.

At the entrance to Wuyi Mountain, health codes were required for tourists.

Officials across the province also dispatched security officers to various scenic spots to ensure safety during the holiday.

Nearly 5,000 enforcement personnel from all over the province were sent to inspect tourist attractions to make sure safety measures were implemented well, officials said.
